Pickled Vegetables

Pickle any Vegetable of your Choice!

Preserve veggies and give them a new flavorful life by pickling them!


Ingredients:

  • Vegetables

    • Cucumbers

    • Carrots

    • Onions

    • Radishes

  • Vinegar

  • Water

  • Salt

  • Sugar

  • Herbs

  • Spices


Materials:

  • Stovetop

  • Saucepan

  • Jars

  • Knife

  • Spoon


Instructions:

  1. Begin by washing and preparing all vegetables, depending on vegetable of choice cut them in a way that you prefer (popular cuts include matchsticks, rounds, large flat cuts)

  2. Begin to make your brine, place water, vinegar, salt, and sugar in a saucepan and bring them to boil, stirring occasionally

  3. Turn off the heat and let the brine cool

  4. Place vegetables in jar, packing as tightly as possible without damaging the shape

  5. Add any additional spices and herbs into the jar

  6. Pour brine in the jar covering all the vegetables

  7. Gently tap the jar to release any air bubbles, pour in additional brine if needed

  8. Once done tapping, seal the jar with it’s lid

  9. Cool the jars till they are room temperature before placing in the fridge


*note that these jars have not been canned, if you choose to can them you may leave them at room temperature, unopened, otherwise store jars in the refrigerator
