Fried Rice with Leftovers

Fried Rice originated as a leftover dish, something quick and easy to do with rice from last night’s dinner. Toss in some veggies and protein to make a hearty meal!

Ingredients:

  • Vegetables

  • Eggs

  • Meat (optional)

  • Rice

  • Oil

  • Salt

  • Spices and Seasonings

Materials:

  • Stovetop

  • Pan

  • Spoon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare vegetables using either a mix of fresh or leftovers, making sure everything is in small bite sized pieces

  2. Prepare meat using either a mix of raw or leftovers, making sure everything is in small bite sized pieces

  3. Oil the pan and saute all vegetables and meat together

  4. Remove from heat and place in a bowl to cool on the side

  5. Beat eggs in a separate bowl

  6. Throw leftover rice into pan and break down any clumps

  7. Pour over the beaten egg, allowing it to cook with the rice alongside scrambling in areas where there is no rice in the pan

  8. Season the rice and egg accordingly with salt and any other spices or seasonings (typically soy sauce, fish sauce, and any other preferred seasoning)

  9. Toss in vegetables and meat, mixing thoroughly into the rice and egg for even distribution

  10. Serve in a bowl as a stand alone meal or alongside other dishes
